"READ & WRITE: A Jockey Club Learning Support Network"
Heep Hong Society is committed to helping children with dyslexia overcome their difficulties. Sponsored by the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust and implemented by the University of Hong Kong, the Chinese University of Hong Kong and the Society, the 9-year project "READ & WRITE: A Jockey Club Learning Support Network" was launched in 2006. Through school-based and community-based support programmes, the Society's team of professionals collaborated with 60 kindergartens, primary schools and local groups and held over 100 workshops for parents. A host of educational resources, including The Language Learning Package for Pre-primary ChildrenThe Guide to Language Development of Pre-primary Children for Parents and the Read and Write Trooper app. Our "Centre-based Support Scheme for Pre-school Children at-risk of Dyslexia" received recognition from our sector peers by winning the Golden Award in the "2013 Best Practice Awards in Social Welfare" organised by the Hong Kong Council of Social Service.
